About the author: Cathy

Catherine Gelormine was born in Trumbull, Connecticut on November 14th, 2986. She lived in Trumbull throughout her elementary school years, which is where she began her adventure as a reader. As a child Catherine loved playing sports and playing with her friends throughout the neighborhood.

After elementary school Catherine moved with her family to Fort Myers, Florida. She attended private schools for middle and high school. At these schools she was taught the importance of education. Throughout middle and high school she was actively involved in sports and clubs. Her sophomore year of high school she was introduced to an organization through her Art club called Special Populations. Once a week Catherine would work with students from this organization that had severe disabilities. When she left after working with the students she felt fulfilled and became aware that this would contribute to her purpose in life. When applying for colleges she declared her major Special Education due to this experience.

Catherine is now a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University. She has maintained her major as Special Education. In college Catherine has taken her middle and high school lessons of the importance of education to discover her enjoyment for learning. This love for education has occurred later in her life and helped her achieve greater success in school and life. She would like to pass on to her future students a love for learning. She is now interning at Vineyards Elementary School. She is involved at Florida Gulf Coast University as a member of Kappa Delta Pie an honors society for teachers. Within this club, we do community service, fundraisers, and socials. She looks forward to entering in the teaching profession.
